In our production, there is no King Duncan, no Banquo, no Macduff, not even Lady Macbeth. There is only the eponymous protagonist: a man who suffers. He suffers because he identifies himself with his false ego and his history, which have been created by his own mind. Is he really a murderer or are the events that he participates in simply projections of his mind? Suffering, however, creates the possibility of awakening. Will it work? Can a sword cut through the illusion? Can Macbeth waken into a state of consciousness? Can he free himself from the authority of the mind, change resistance into acceptance and find his own real self – being?
